Identifying Giftedness:
What the characteristics that help you to identify and understand giftedness?
The following are a list of 9 traits or characteristics, not exhaustive nor are they generalized to all gifted students but may apply to your child.
- He or she may start to think in an abstract term that is often complex, logical, and insightful.
- The child ideas presented and their sense of justice is developed at an early age.
- Often times, depending on the age, the child is concerned with social and political issues and injustices that most students are not.
- Normally the attention span is not beyond the length of their age however the child tends to have a longer attention span.
- The child is able to display an intense concentration when given a task.
- Most times the child is preoccupied with own thoughts and are considered as daydreamers.
- The child put a wide range of ideas or things together that are not typical.
- The child is highly curious.
- Most times you will find the child asking a question in an effort to organize people or things through games or complex schemes.
